About
The feature-length film chronicles the lives of the beloved pair of plovers over five years and is a follow-up to the 2019 documentary short. Those interviewed include "Plover Mother" Tamima Itani, actor/artist Tony Fitzpatrick, Chicago Tribune reporter Morgan Greene, American Birding Association's Greg Neise, Chicago Ornithological Society President Edward Warden, Montrose Dunes Site Steward Leslie Borns, longtime Chicago birder and guide Geoff Williamson and many more. The approximately hour-long documentary was written and directed by Bob Dolgan, a past Board Member of Chicago Ornithological Society and author of the This Week in Birding newsletter. Videography is by Mitchell Wenkus, editing is by Sharon Filipkowski and animations are by Bill Fogarty. Music is by local indie favorites Congress of Starlings and San Diego ska pioneers Spy Kids. The film is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council. Title Sponsor is Redstart Birding, a small, Ohio-based, female-owned business powered by birders, and Platinum Sponsors are Openlands, which protects the natural and open spaces of northeastern Illinois, and Moss Design, a full-service architecture and design studio in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago.
