Monty and Rose returned to Montrose Beach on May 1, 2020, and fledged three chicks: Esperanza, Hazel and Nish!
Now we are starting work on an hour-long sequel, "Monty and Rose II" - ! The goal with this new film is to continue to celebrate this unique story while raising awareness of local endangered species and the need to preserve coastal ecosystems. In “Monty and Rose II,” we’ll broaden the focus to include a look at the effort to restore populations of Great Lakes piping plovers and the history of restoration over 20 years at Montrose Beach Dunes. Tentative release date: May 2021. Watch the teaser for the sequel.

- A two-night, sold-out premiere at the historic Music Box Theatre, and 17 live showings in all
- The first-ever Illinois Piping Plover Day, as declared by Governor J.B. Pritzker, November 18, 2019
- Acceptance as an official selection of the 2020 One Earth Film Festival in Chicago and the 2020
- Broadcast on WTTW Channel 11, Chicago’s PBS station, on May 2, 2020
